BARTHA ZOLTAN Artist statement
Art is a parallel dimension for me.
A gateway to another reality.
It calms and enlightens my consciousness to think that
our ancestors devoted so much time and energy to creating mythology,
fantasy, and fairy tales—and to leaving behind a testament:
something we can return to, learn from, rely on, and draw inspiration from.
I am deeply grateful that our ancestors opened this portal for us.
It would be terrifying to imagine our world without it.
But when I perceive reality through the raw lens of common sense,
it can awaken rather unpleasant and disturbing feelings within me.
So I am always happy to wander back into this other world,
hand in hand with my muses—
singing cheerful songs, dancing, wondering,
and listening to their stories.
I have always had appointments in this Realm.
The problem with the fantasy dimension
is that eventually, you have to return to reality
and give your thoughts a physical form.
Because if you don’t,
they will slowly fade away
or simply sail off into the distance.
And this part of my life,
this part of my existence that I truly enjoy,
is what gives meaning to my existence.
